Sonam Kapoor following dad’s footsteps

Posted: 09 Nov 2010 04:36 AM PST

If Anil Kapoor is shooting for high-voltage action sequences in Tezz, then daughter Sonam Kapoor is not far behind. Her own action film Players (remake of The Italian Job), directed by the director duo Abbas-Mastan, is an action thriller with some hi-voltage action scenes designed by action director Allan Amin. It’s not just the guys Abhishek Bachchan, Bobby Deol and Nitin Neil Mukesh, who will be performing stunts.

Leading ladies Sonam and Bipasha Basu will get equal opportunity. Yesterday, Sonam shot a song for the film, but in the coming weeks, she’s expected to shoot for some action sequences in speeding boats and cars. This is the first time that the Kapoor lass is doing an action film. So, she’s been rigorously training for her part. She has been training in pilates from Yasmin Karachiwala for the last few months. The trainer even accompanied her to Goa for their daily one hour regimen.

Says an insider, “Sonam knows that her co-star Bipasha is known for her athletic body and she doesn’t want to fall behind while showing off hers or performing stunts.” Kapoor admits, “I am in Goa shooting for Players. I have been training in pilates for some time and doing it because I love it.”

Abbas Burmawala says, “Players is an action thriller and the girls, Bipasha and Sonam, will be doing lots of stunning car chases and other action sequences.”

RSS dharna at Panaji- Goa on Wednesday

Posted: 09 Nov 2010 02:42 AM PST

The Goa unit of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) will organize an agitation in Panaji on Wednesday alleging that the UPA-government at the Centre has indulged in a sustained anti-Hindu stance and conspiracy.

The agitation is part of a nation-wide campaign by the saffron organization. The RSS’s Goa unit held a press conference on Monday morning at which its chief Subhash Velingkar said that the agitation will be held to register its protest “over the manner the RSS is being defamed through a calumnious campaign by the Congress-led UPA government”.

He further said that the UPA government was using incidents like the Malegaon blast case, and the Margao bomb blast last year to target Hindu outfits.

“Similarly, the name of a senior RSS functionary, Indresh Kumar, has been dragged into the chargesheet of the Ajmer blast case. A meeting in which the accused was allegedly present and allegedly addressed has been noted in the chargesheet. This smacks of a sinister conspiracy. The chargesheet neither presents any evidence about the said meeting nor makes any specific charges against him,” he said.

“While the anti-terrorism squad (ATS) failed to present any such evidence in the chargesheet, some of its officials now claim that they did have evidence and will present it later. It clearly shows that there is some conspiracy to implicate Indresh Kumar in this case,” Velingkar said.
