Indian navy wants Goa islands ban

Two scenic tourist islands in Goa are at the centre of a security row after the Indian navy demanded they be made no-go zones. The move is being opposed by the tourism industry and the state government, which is planning to set up an amusement park on the islands. The navy says the islands, Grande and Pequeno, were important for the safety of the only international airport in the state, which is used by tourists.

They are close to the landing approach to Dabolim airport and there have been alerts in the past about possible terror attacks on the airport from the sea. The navy’s proposal would end tourism on the islands, a popular retreat 20 miles off Goa in the Arabian Sea. Goa, on India’s west coast, is known for its sandy beaches and attracts about 2.5 million tourists annually, including half a million foreigners, mostly from Britain, Israel and Russia.

State Revenue Minister Jose Phillip D’Souza said the navy proposal had come at a time when the government was planning to set up an amusement park there. ”We will see what the navy is trying to do, but we will oppose it,” Mr D’Souza said. A final decision rests with the federal government and it could be months away.

Shantaram Naik, from the governing Congress party, said if the navy took over the islands it would badly hit tourism and fishing in the region.

Shahid, Priyanka’s Short Holiday In Goa!

Lots of speculations have been made and said about the alleged Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor relationship but it seems that there is no end to it. Now, there is a report that the two Bollywood stars had recently gone for a short holiday in Goa!

It seems that they want to come out of the "good friends' tag to a publicly declared couple. Last month, when Priyanka left for Brazil to shoot for the reality show "Khatron Ke Khiladi', she was reportedly dropped by Shahid. The actress left for Brazil on 16th August and came back to Mumbai on 8th September, which was a gap of almost one month.

A source was quoted saying that soon after returning from Brazil, the unofficial couple made a plan to spend some time together and had a very short one-day trip to Goa. They had reportedly left on September 9 and spent just one day there. Priyanka was scheduled to leave for Delhi on the next day and the promotions of her Anjaana Anjaani followed after that.

An eyewitness was quoted saying that the stars took a 12 pm flight from Mumbai and they were seated in the business class section of the flight with number 9W-475. They were dressed in casuals and wore dark glasses, probably to avoid eye contact with anyone else. Well, how will they keep denying their relations because paparazzi are always behind them and will find out every close moment they spend together!

Wanted drug dealer Atala hiding in Israel: website

sraeli drug dealer Yaniv Benaim, who was missing after being out on bail in the drug peddler-police nexus case here, has been sighted in Israel, an Israeli website has claimed. As per the report in Israeli website www.Ynet.com, Atala was in Rishon in Israel and has told the reporter that he managed to cross Indian boundaries and return back home at Rishon-Letzion, a fourth biggest town in Israel. The drug dealer, an important link in the nexus case, was out on the bail since June this year. He went missing since first week of July.

The story headlined as “Goa drug king hides in Rishon - Letzion” has claimed that the 36-year-old drug dealer is back in his town “after escaping from house arrest by the Indian authorities.” The piece of news claims that when Indian authorities were claiming that Atala was missing, the accused was on his way to Israel. “Indian authorities reported in the last few weeks that

is missing, but now it seems that the Israeli drug dealer, is in his country and is hiding in Rishon Letzion,” the report reads. Atala, arrested six months ago in Goa for suspected drug trafficking, ran away three weeks ago from house arrest which he was sentenced by the court in India and since then his trails were lost, the Ynet.c
