Rs.331.60 Lakh for renovation of Churches in Goa :Goa, MP

Union Minister of State   in the ministry of Tourism Shri Sultan Ahmed   informed Mr. Shantaram Naik, M.P.  in the Rajya Sabha today that during the last three years an expenditure of Rs.331.60 lakhs has been incurred by Goa Circle of Archaeological Survey of India on renovation and up gradation of churches and convents in Goa. 

Apart from this, State Government of Goa has also incurred an expenditure of Rs.4.11 lakh for renovation of St. Jacinto Church, Vasco during 2009-10, minister said.

 

Further, the minister said that the Ministry of Tourism has sanctioned a project for Integrated Development of Infrastructure of Heritage and Hinterland  Tourism in Goa for Rs.43.09 crore during 2008-09 to the State Government of Goa.

 

He further said that implementation of projects sanctioned by the Ministry of Tourism is the responsibility of the concerned  State Government/Union Territory Administrations.  The Ministry of Tourism monitors the progress of implementation through site visits and review meetings from time to time.
